John "Harry" Cope was born in 1929 in Carlyle and was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mildred (nee Sprout) and his brothers Sam and Vern.

Harry moved to Vancouver at a young age, but he returned every spring and fall until the 1970s, and more infrequently in later years. He spoke fondly and warmly of Carlyle and his friends there all his life.

Harry had a career with Wawanesa Insurance, along with many other business ventures, including owning the Notary Office in Carlyle in the 1950s, and a carpet cleaning business in New Westminster in the 1980s.

Harry loved the arts, music, and theater, and he was a lifelong amateur singer and dancer. He was kind and generous, and he guided and helped many people who were in need.

I'm very sorry to hear of Harry's passing. He was a wonderful man. I remember well as a young boy when we sprayed his crops. Dad always spoke very well of Harry. He was a pleasant man and very nice to be around.
