Abraham L. Preece, 94, of Sykesville , formerly of Homosassa, Fla., died Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Homestead of Sun Valley Assisted Living.

Born Oct. 3, 1917, in Inez, Ky., he was the son of the late Mary and late Cornelius Preece. He was the husband of the late Margie Bishop Preece.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are sons Ronald Preece and wife Anne, of Dravosburg, Pa., and Larry Preece and wife Sally, of Sykesville; grandchildren David Preece and wife Elise, of White Oak, Pa., Dan Preece and wife Shannon, of Amelia, Ohio, Michael Preece and wife Lisa, of Glenwood, Tim Preece and wife Paige, of Marietta, Ga., and Melanie Wigton and husband Thomas Ellis, of Glen Burnie; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Preece Wigton; nine brothers; and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Monday at McWilliams Funeral Home, in Wellston, Ohio. Interment will be in Hamden cemetery in Hamden, Ohio.

Local arrangements are by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory in Sykesville.
