Adaliea Smith, 86 , of Hampstead and formerly of Parkville, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born April 3, 1927, in Glyndon, she was a daughter of the late George and Mildred Peltzer Wirts. She was the wife of the late Julian Smith.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School and was a member of Hiss Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She attended St. John United Methodist Church in Hampstead. She enjoyed typing and doing secretarial work.

Surviving are brother Herbert W. Wirts and wife Barbara Wirts, of Hampstead; sisters-in-law Margarete Serio and Pat Evering; nieces Joyce Tennyson, Leah Ewell and Cindy Wilson; nephews Clifford Merchant, Henry "Ted" Merchant and Russell Merchant; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Laura Merchant, Elizabeth Adkins and Bessie Merchant.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Melissa Rudolph officiating. Interment will be in Parkwood Cemetery.
