Alan E. "PawPaw" Hepding Jr., 79, of Westminster, died Friday, June 2, 2017. Born Aug. 20, 1937, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Alan and Catherine Hepding. He was the husband of his childhood sweetheart, Ann C. Perez Hepding, who died in 2005. They had been married for 50 years. He attended Polytechnic High School in Baltimore. He went onto hold supervisory positions at Schenuit Tire Company, Bendix, Rowan, Gould/Telemechanique, Cox Creek Refinery, and had worked at Lowes prior to retiring. In his younger years he enjoyed racing go-karts through the streets of Hampden. His hobbies included creating train gardens, motorcycles, antique cars, and fishing. He had been a long-time member of Street Cars of Desire. He was instrumental in starting and supporting the annual Country Cruizn Car Show held in Taneytown. He was an avid supporter of "PGMingle." He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are children and spouses Catherine and Grant Stone Sr., of Taneytown, and Alan E. Hepding III and Vicky Hepding, of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Penny Hepding, of Bel Air; grandchildren Shiela Johnson, of Hampstead, Grant Stone Jr., of Hanover, Pa., Michael Stone, Tiffany Noone, and Brandon Hepding, all of Westminster; seven great-grandchildren; and extended family. He was predeceased by a son, Steven C. Hepding. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
