The Rev. Albert K. Lane Jr., 80 of Finksburg, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home.

Born Dec. 22, 1932, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert K. Lane Sr. and Lora Hicks Lane. He was the husband of Grace W. Lane, his wife of 58 years, who he married June 11, 1955.

He was a 1951 graduate from Baltimore Polytechnic High School, a 1954 graduate of Johns Hopkins University and a 1968 graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a retired pastor, who served the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church since 1965.

He served at Jollytown Charge in Pennsylvania, Libertytown United Methodist Church, Wesley-Freedom United Methodist Church, Lexington Park United Methodist Church, Forest Memorial United Methodist Church, West Baltimore United Methodist Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. After retiring he served Bethel, Stone Chapel, Wesley, in Hampstead, Calvary, in Gamber and Westminster United Methodist churches.

He was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed supporting Johns Hopkins lacrosse, Baltimore Orioles baseball and Baltimore football. He was supportive of his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Albert K. Lane III and Dayna, of Walkersville; daughters and sons-in-law Martha E. Milli and Michel, of Reisterstown, Jean A. Litfin and Matthew, of Eldersburg, and Helen L. Semkiw and Roman, of New Market; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service, 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Dr. Laura Easto officiating. Interment will be at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157; or University of Maryland Medical Center, Division of Transplantation, 29 S. Greene St., Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21201.
