Albert Milton Cooper, 87, of Hampstead, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born April 14, 1926, at White Hall in Baltimore County, he was the son of the late William M. and Elva M. Ware Cooper. He was the husband of Ruth A. Rill Cooper, his wife of 57 years.

He was a graduate of Sparks High School in Sparks. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 in the 13th Infantry of the 8th Infantry Division at Fort Jackson, S.C. He was transferred to A Company, 13th Infantry as a supply clerk. He was later promoted to the rank of sergeant. He was discharged in September 1952 after serving as a supply sergeant.

He retired from Black & Decker in Hampstead and had previously been employed at 3M National Advertising in Westminster.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post 256 in Parkton; a Past Master of Lebanon Lodge 175 A. F. & A. M.; and a member of Lebanon Chapter 108 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Manchester. He had also been a life member of the Toy Train Collectors Association, the Maryland Steam Historical Society Inc. and the Mason-Dixon Historical Society Inc. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Gettysburg Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Carroll Scottish Rite Club. He enjoyed square dancing, taking bus trips and spending time with his wife.

Surviving are his wife's family, consisting of seven brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, where Masonic Rites will be offered at 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 3100 Shiloh Road, Hampstead, with his pastor, the Rev. Denise Millett, officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh United Methodist Cemetery.
