Albert Nelson Owings Jr., 71, of Dillon, S.C., formerly of Carroll County, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.

Born June 5, 1942, in New Windsor, he was the son of the late Albert Nelson Owings Sr. and Virginia Cook Owings. He was the husband of Kathy Owings, his wife of 18 years.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, and was retired from Random House.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Keith Owings, of Westminster; stepsons Ron Kerns, of Baltimore, James Michael Funk, of Hamer, S.C., and Eric Fogle Sr., of Dillon, S.C.; and grandchildren, Eric Fogle Jr., Faith Ann Fogle and Emily Elizabeth Clagg, of Littlestown, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon, S.C.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Florence National Cemetery in Florence, S.C.
