Alice "Ernestine" Miller, 81, of Florence, KY passed away on March 2nd, 2016 with family by her side. She graduated from Manchester High School of Manchester, Maryland in 1952. She then went to work for the FBI in Washing D.C. It was there that she met her husband of over 60 years Victor H. Miller. Together, they returned to his home in the great state of Kentucky where they started a lifelong dedication to the city of Florence and to building a family. Both heavily active in politics, she took the role of Boone County Commissioner in 1987. She organized and served as an active member and past president of the Boone County Jaycettes, the feminine arm of the Jaycees. She was an avid golfer and has won many awards in Northern Kentucky and throughout the state of Kentucky. She was an eight-time Eagle Creek Country Club Women's Club Champion (1979-1984 and 1989-1990). While on the board of directors for the Northern KY Lady's Golf Committee, she procured the Lady's Kentucky State Amateur Tournament and the Kentucky State Seniors Tournament. In 2010 she was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and was one of only a few women to ever receive that honor. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Miller in 2015, her son Clay Allen Miller in 2007, her sister Virginia Lee and her parents Ivan Eugene Simpkins and Vonnie Wilson Simpkins. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Lynn Phillips, her Grandchildren Stacey & Gabriel Guthrie, Michael & Brittany Phillips, and Matthew Phillips, her one Great-Granddaughter Alice Guthrie, her dear sister Bonnie Reaver of Manchester, MD and her brother and sister in law, Tom and Carol Miller along with their son Chris Miller and his family. Services will be held at Stith Funeral Homes in Florence, KY on Monday March 7th from 12-2:30PM. Donations can be sent to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA), or .
