Alice Selda "Dolly" Parks, 93,  New Freedom, Pa., died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Misericorida Nursing and Rehab in York, Pa.

Born Oct. 3, 1919, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Blanche Alice Arnold Abel. She was the wife of the late James W. Parks Jr.

She was a graduate of Western High School. She had been employed as a hairdresser and then as a telephone operator. She then became a mother and caretaker and was employed by Random House in the 1970s. She lived on Emerald Drive in Sykesville for 49 years.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Barbara Ann and Rick Cook, of Hanover, Pa., Alice R. Parks-Culp and David Culp, of New Freedom; a daughter-in-law, Susan Lynn Parks, of Charlevoix, Mich.; and grandchildren Bethany Lynne Cook, of Raleigh, N.C., Christopher James Parks, of Detroit, Mich., and Sarah Lynn Parks, of Charlevoix.

She was predeceased by a son, John James Parks.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be held at a later date at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.
