Alice Trail Bennett, 77, of Westminster, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at home in Carroll Lutheran Village, where she had lived for the last seven years.

Born July 29, 1935, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Bertie Trail. She was the wife of the late Harry G. Bennett.

Before moving to Carroll Lutheran Village, she was a long-time resident of Sykesville. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church and an active volunteer in the community.

She was known to be a dependable volunteer in the schools for her children, and help family and neighbors in need. She served for more than five years as a volunteer for Carroll Hospice. She was also a member of the local AARP Chapter having once served as the president.

While at Carroll Lutheran Village, she continued her legacy of service. She would find time to help a friend who needed transportation, support or a smile. Her volunteer activities included assisting in the physical therapy clinic and working in the gift shop. She also stayed active in church with Brandenburg United Methodist Church, serving in various leadership positions in the congregation.

Surviving are daughters Anne Waters and partner Larry English, of Westminster, and Kathy Bounds and husband Mark Bounds, of Columbia, S.C.; granddaughters Alyson Gibson and husband Dale, of Manchester, April Ayers and husband Bryson, of Shreveport, La.; a grandson, David Bounds, of Aberdeen; a great-grandson, Zachary Gibson; great-granddaughters Addison and Eleanor Ayers; and a life-long friend, Phyllis Pickett.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with the Rev. John Bragg, of Brandenburg United Methodist Church and the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz, Carroll Lutheran Village Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Brandenburg United Methodist Church, 6050 Old Washington Road, Sykesville, MD 21784-7822.
