Allen James Schneider, 73, of Vivaro, Italy, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, in Vivaro.

Born June 12, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late James and Pauline Schneider. He was the husband of Angela Schneider.

He attended New Windsor School with the class of 1958 until he joined the Navy. After serving his enlistment, he re-enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 30 years. Much of that time was spent in Vietnam. After marriage, he and his wife Angie settled in Italy. Until his retirement, he managed the PX on the United Nations air base in Vivaro.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Dale Schneider, and two grandchildren, all of Italy; sisters Nachette Smith, of Union Bridge, Paralee Hayward, of Murphy, N.C., Janeen Schneider, of Enumclaw, Wash., Lorelei Schild, of Hanover, Pa., Loralynne Schneider, of Murphy, Pamela Snyder, of Salem, W.Va., and Lonyta McClain, of Manchester;  brothers Rodger Schneider, of Middletown, N.Y., and Jack Schneider, of Clear Spring.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dawn Peacock; and a brother, Frank Schneider.
