Allen R. Hoffman Sr., 98, of Frederick, formerly of Unionville, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center, in Frederick.
Born Dec. 5, 1913, in Libertytown, he was the son of the late Merle Leroy Hoffman and Edith Belle Etzler Hoffman. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. Rippeon Hoffman.
He was a farmer in the Unionville and Mount Airy areas all his life. He was a life member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law A. Reno Hoffman Jr. and Sharon, of Frederick; grandchildren Hope and Michelle Hoffman, both of Frederick; great-grandchildren Bradley and Nicole Wentz; and a sister, Margaret Myers, of Libertytown.
He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Road, Mount Airy, with the Rev. Wayne Hall officiating. Interment will be in the church's cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771.
