Alma Doris Langevin, 92, of Westminster, formerly of Bellmore, Long Island, New York and Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 3:10 p.m. She currently resided at Carroll Lutheran Village. Born April 24, 1924, in Jersey City, NJ she was the daughter of the late Charles and Philippene (Pflaesterer) Hattenbach. She was he loving wife of Valmore T. Langevin whom she married on November 1, 1952. Alma was a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from New Paltz State Teacher's College, now State University of New York at New Platz and her Master's Degree in Education from New York University. She was a public school teacher in Bellmore, NY and she also taught in Arizona and Connecticut. Alma enjoyed choral music and was a member of the Freeport (NY) Community Chorus where she appeared in several Gilbert & Sullivan operettas as well as other stage productions. She also enjoyed sewing, counted cross stitch, cooking, reading, playing bridge and travel. Suviving in addition to her husband are sons and spouses; Theodore Langevin and Susan Groll of Madison, CT; Charles Langevin and Vicki Harris of Killingworth, CT; George Langevin of San Diego, CA; and Robert and Karen Langevin of Westminster, MD. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster with Father Mark Bialek as celebrant. Interment will be private for the family in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Garrison Forest. Memorial contributions may be made to the Resident's Assistance Fund at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
