Alton "Hap" Rakes, 69, of East Berlin, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Yvonne E. (Henderson) Rakes, his wife of 49 years. Alton was born August 29, 1945 in Westminster, MD, the son of the late Cecil D. and Helen O. (Baile) Rakes. Alton served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. "Those who know me know what I did and those that don't, don't need to know". In addition to his wife Yvonne, Alton is survived by 2 daughter; Angela C. Kump and her husband Jonathan of East Stroudsburg, and Allison C. Lockman and her husband Cory of Hanover, 2 grandchildren; Aliya Lockman and Jase Lockman, a brother, Samuel Rakes of New Windsor, MD, and 2 sisters; Oneida Hollinger of Frederick, MD and Ruthanna Bohn of Union Bridge, MD. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
