Alvin L. Vaughn, age 79, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born September 18,1935 in Westminster, Md., he was the son of the late Robert and Hilda Vaughn. He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (nee Surrett) Vaughn of Sykesville. Alvin was a Carpenter for many years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 223. He was also past County Commander of the American Legion. He is Survived by 4 children June Byrd of Florida, Teresa Vaughn-Schafer and husband Harry of Sykesville, Paul Vaughn of Sykesville, Robert Vaughn and wife Holly Vaughn of Westminster and the late Alvin L. Vaughn, Jr. Also survived by two sisters Bernice and husband Kenneth Linton of Sykesville & Denise and husband Jay McClure of Las Vegas, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville on Sunday, January 25th, at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, 2-4 & 6-8pm.
