Amy Lee Reed, 87, of Hanover, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.

Born April 25, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Adeline Eye Huffman. She was the wife of the late John P. Reed.

She was a graduate of Western High School and Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, as well as Johns Hopkins University. She received music training at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She was a music teacher at McDonogh School in Pikesville.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ of Taneytown. She was a choir director and organist at Stone Chapel United Methodist Church and also served as the organist at St. Mark's On-the-Hill Episcopal Church, both located in Pikesville.

She was a member and honoree of the Historical Society of Carroll County and a member of the Frederick Historical Society. She also served as a leader and camp director of the Girl Scouts of America.

She was the co-author, with Marie Burns, of the book "In and Out of Frederick Town: Colonial Occupations."

Surviving are daughters Nancy R. Hitchner, of Pawling, N.Y., and Rebecca J. Reed, of Federalsburg; and a son-in-law, Earle R. Hitchner III.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Friday at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with her pastor, the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating. Burial will be in Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Taneytown.
