Anthony Phillips Obituary

Anthony David Phillips, age 63, passed away Friday March 9, 2018 at Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo, CA. Known by all as "David", he was born in Gettysburg, PA in 1954 and raised in Westminster from 1954 to 1981, he finally became a resident of Golden Coast Senior Living, Mission Viejo, CA, where he spent the last year of his life. He was proceeded in death by his mother Catherine Phillips in 1980, and his father Thomas Phillips, former Manager of Grief Brothers Clothing, Westminster, in 1996. After the passing of his father, he moved to California to be close to his brother Tom. The warmer climate made him blossom. David, who suffered with Downs Syndrome, was loved by all who met him. He always had a smile and never complained. He worked at Vocational Visions in Mission Viejo and enjoyed recreation in their clubhouse. He was spotted many times on the dance floor, with his friends. He had a love of baseball shared with his dad, and a love of music shared with his brother Tom. He would spend hours going through his baseball card collection, while listening to Lawrence Welk or Alvin and the Chipmunks. He was an all-around great guy. The last two years of his life were fraught with health issues. He developed dementia and became wheel chair bound. He lived as full of life as any one and passed away peacefully. He is survived by his brother Tom of Rancho Santa Margarita CA, and his niece Anne Phillips Lewis of Charlotte NC. He also has cousins in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. There will be a private service. Those wishing, a donation to Vocational Visions ( http://www.vocationalvisions.org/ ) in his name would be appreciated.
