Armistead Richard "Dick" "Pop-Pop" Baum, 72, of Ocean City, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Atlantic General Hospital.
Born in Texas, he was the son of the late Robert Hammers and Emma Baum. He was the husband of Rosemary H. Baum,his wife of 48 years.
He was honorably discharged from the Army, where he served as a Chinese linguist from 1957 to 1964. He had later worked many years for Proctor and Gamble.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Westminster, president of the Philatelic Society of Salisbury, and vice president of the Homeowners Association of Townes of Nantucket III in Ocean City.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Mark Baum and wife Tammy, of Hanover, Pa., Brian Baum and wife Angel, of Westminster, and David Baum, of Pasadena; and grandchildren Amber, Haley, Andrew, Abigail, Nathaniel and Natalie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mark's Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Ave., Catonsville, MD 21228; or flowers may be sent to Beaumont Hall, Knights of Columbus, 1010 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.
Arrangements are by Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
