Arnie Otte, Air Force MSGT (Ret.), age 80, of Carroll Vista Retirement Community in Taneytown, Maryland died on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Lorien Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown. He was born April 14, 1934 in Germantown, Wisconsin, son of the late Arnold and Frieda Greibling Otte. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Shower Otte. They were married at Wheeler Air Force Base, Hawaii, on November 11, 1967. Arnie served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring from a position at The White House Communications Agency, in Washington, D.C. He then worked in Washington D.C., for the General Services Administration, Information Services (Federal Govt.), as a Systems Engineer for 13 years, retiring in 1990. Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Art Otte and wife Darlene of Fond du Lac, WI; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Clingman and Elizabeth Cain both of MD. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Rudolph Otte, Col. William Otte (Ret.); sisters, Eleanor Broatz, Alma Kissinger, and Evelyn Dreikosen Pinch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown with Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 75851, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
