Arthur T. Houck, 90, of Hampstead, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 16, 2012.

Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Westminster , he was the son of the late Albert S. and Anna Nickey Houck. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Skeeter" Koontz Houck, his wife of 63 years.

He had served in the Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous other citations.

He was a member of the DAV Chapter 22 Westminster, the VFW Post 467 Westminster, and the American Legion. He had been a farmer all his life and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol L. Simmons, of Parkton; son Neil A. Houck and wife Robin Teal, of Hampstead; granddaughters Toyah Nastanovich and husband Michael, and Tinah Houck and fiance Dan Strausbaugh, all of York, Pa., Haile Houck, of Hampstead, and Lucinda Simmons and fiance Adam Tenney, of Littlestown, Pa.; great-granddaughters Paris E. Kingan and Hayden E. Strausbaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings Ruth Buffington, Paul Houck, Maryanna Cook and Margaret Barber.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Melvina Stricklin officiating. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
