Audrey E. Velnoskey, 96, of Westminster, died October 6, 2014 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. Born June 20, 1918 in Carrollton, she was the daughter of the late H. Stanley and Elsie Ebaugh Evans. She was the wife of the late Thomas P. Velnoskey, who died in 1982. She had worked in her father's grocery store until she married and then worked for J. C. Penney. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and had served as an election judge for 50 years. She was a 60 year member of Family Community Education (formerly the Westminster Homemakers Club), a co-ordinator for Phoenix II and an active member of AARP. She was a 1935 graduate of Westminster High School. Audrey enjoyed ballroom dancing at Penn Mar and Dancing Made Easy. Surviving are sons and daughters in law Douglas P. and Pamela S. Velnoskey of Finksburg and Charles S. and Deborah L. Velnoskey of Walkersville; grandchildren Devin P. Velnoskey and wife Jennifer, Andrew T. Velnoskey and wife Jackie, and Kayla R. Velnoskey and Sam Smith; sister-in-law A. Romaine Evans; devoted friends Pat Blizzard, Mary Whalen, Dan Pfoutz, Barbara Lathroum and Pat Bigler; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John H. Evans in December 30, 2012. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Officiating will be Fr. Gerard Steffener. Interment will be held at Westminster Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Ministry of Caring Endowment at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158 or to the Historical Society of Carroll County, 210 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157 or to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
