Barbara Anne Haines Caples, 74, of Westminster,  died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 26, 1938, in Hanover, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Ruth Everhart Haines. She was the wife of Gordon M. Caples, her husband of 55 years.

She was a 1956 graduate of Westminster High School. She worked for the Rosewood Center for more than 30 years and retired in 1996. She then worked part time for Dutterer's Florist Shop in Westminster and volunteered at Carroll Hospital Center.

She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Snydersburg, and served as financial secretary. She enjoyed attending sporting events and horse show competitions participated in by her children. She was an avid Ravens fan, enjoyed Caribbean cruises, bus trips, and watching and feeding birds.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Kim Arbaugh and husband Bob, of New Windsor; son Jeffrey Caples and wife Kelly, of Hampstead; a brother, Richard Haines, of Westminster; grandchildren Darrin Arbaugh, Kristin Athey and husband Tyler, and Jacob and Benjamin Caples; a niece, Stacy Bowman; and several other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of memorial service, 1 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Interment will be private.
