Barbara Ann Malm (nee Deatherage) of Arnold, Maryland died after a brief illness in the company of family June 5, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 79. Barbara was born in Michie, Tennessee on July 2, 1935 to Allen and Mary Una Deatherage. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Mary Helen Deatherage, Peggy June Lambert, Jimmie Allen Deatherage, Virginia Moffett, and Jesse Deatherage. She was raised and attended school in Michie and Shiloh, Tennessee. Barbara married Richard F. Malm of Omaha, Nebraska on January 14, 1956 in Iuka, Mississippi. They have made homes together in Omaha, NE, Huntsville, AL and Arnold, MD. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years; her children Pamela Leigh of CA, Stanley Malm of Glen Burnie, MD and Nancy Tipton of Eldersburg, MD; her siblings Martha Jean Bunting of Florence, AL, James Raborn Deatherage of Lawrenceburg, TN and Sandra Byrd of Michie, TN; her grandchildren April Chaffee of McKinney, TX, Stephanie Olienyk of Millersville, MD, Steve Malm of Baltimore, MD, Corina and Patrick Tipton of Eldersburg, MD and two great grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed the outdoors especially when combined with her other passions including family, sports, gardening, singing and playing her guitar. In her younger years she played basketball, softball, tennis, bowling, sailing and was a whiz at word games. In her later years she was passionate for her yard and flowers when not travelling the country in a RV. She worked as a homemaker, in various secretarial positions and volunteered for many years at the Fleet Reserve Club of Annapolis. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association. Family and friends are welcomed for a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
