Barbara Lee Plunkert, 75, of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Westminster, entered God's enternal care on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born on March 17, 1942 in Carroll County, and was the daughter of the late Charles Russell and Mabel Marie (Dixon) Hughes. She was the cherished wife of 57 years to Frederick "Fred" Plunkert, whom she married on May 6, 1961. Barbara graduated from Westminster High School, class of 1960. She worked for J.C. Penny and T.W. Mathers, enjoyed home daycare, and being a homemaker. She also enjoyed camping especially in Florida visiting Disneyworld during the winter. She was a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary at the Westminster Fire Department, the 1960's Club, and Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren. Surviving in addition to her husband are children and their spouses Daniel L. "Dan" and Michele Plunkert of Westminster, Judith L. "Judy" and Tony Sartori of Gettysburg, PA, Robert W. "Bob" and Rebecca Plunkert of Hanover, PA; siblings Edward Hughes of Hampstead, Patricia Bosley of Bethany Beach, DE, Nancy Lambert of Hanover, PA, Connie Zink of Hanover, PA, Donnie Hughes of Westminster; grandchildren Sarah Risner; Julie Plunkert; Morgan, Kaitlyn and Brady Sartori; Gracie, Emma, and Ryan Plunkert. She was predeceased by her brother Dennis Hughes. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Jody Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD 21157.
