Barbara Parks Hering, 87, of Westminster, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.

Born April 20, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Wesley T. and Agatha Deckwar Parks. She was the wife of J. Paul Hering, whom she married in 1946 and who died in 2006.

She was a 1943 graduate of Westminster High School. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Women's Club of Westminster, Carroll County Farm Bureau and St. John's Catholic Church.

Surviving are children and their spouses Annette H. and Philip Arbaugh, of Westminster, David Paul and Robin Hering, of Atlanta, Amy H. and J. Timothy Henry, of Westminster, Donald F. and Deborah Hering, of Westminster; a sister, Shirley Elliott, of Towson; a brother, Tom Parks of San City, Ariz.; granddaughters and spouses Michele Arbaugh Bair and Matt, Kim Arbaugh Kucharski and Kirk, Megan Henry, Melissa Henry Crain and Jared; grandsons Tom and Tim Storck; and great-grandchildren Molly VanLeuvan, Logan VanLeuvan, Brady Kucharski, Lexie Kucharski and Abbie Crain.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Hering.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

Additional visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 10 a.m. Thursday at Krug Chapel at the Carroll Lutheran Village, 210 St. Mark Way, Westminster, with the Rev. Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Cemetery.
