Barbara Roberta Collins, 85, of Westminster, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at her granddaughter's residence in Parkton.

Born April 1, 1928, in Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Ada Courtney Coit and Rex Coit. She was the wife of the late Bertram Collins.

She was very active in the Philanthropic Educational Organization throughout the country, and was instrumental in opening a chapter in Carroll County.

She was a member of the Unitarian Church in Finksburg, and also instrumental in obtaining their present location. She was known to be a mentor and friend to all.

Surviving are son, Courtney Collins, of Upperco; and grandchildren Rex Collins, of Westminster, Stella Collins, of Parkton, and Chester Crawford, of Denver, Colo.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Michele Loucks; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Collins.
