Barbara Jean Schmidt, 76, of Manchester, died on Tuesday December 9, 2014 at her home. Born February 18, 1938 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eileen Carroll Poole. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 200 for 35 years. She lived and breathed for her day care children throughout the years. She loved to dance, go shopping, loved going out to eat, especially crabs and Red Lobster. She loved her Ravens parties. Surviving are daughters, Debra Lynn Karl and husband Van Karl of Glenville, PA and Teresa Layman and companion Craig Fisher of Westminster; son, Bobby Hargett and companion Laurie of Boonsboro, MD; significant other, Joe Taymans of Hampstead; grandsons, Jeremiah Dayhoff and wife Megan of Westminster, Shawn Morris and companion Nikki Sabol of Columbia, MD; granddaughters, Stacy Schubert and her husband Steve of Hanover, PA, Sarah Layman of Westminster, Katey Layman of Westminster, Marcelene Piper of Jacksonville, FL and Amanda Hargett of Boonsboro, MD. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Poole, Sr. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2014, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Eline Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Rumbaugh officiating. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 200, P.O. Box 292, 4600 Legion Lane Hampstead, MD 21074.
