Barton S. Sieg, 87, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Westminster, MD, at the Hospice Dove House. Barton was born June 8, 1927 in Dayton, OH, the fourth of seven children born to the late Rush Keenan Sieg, Sr and Caroline Bella (Gerber) Sieg. He moved with his family to New Oxford, PA about 1936, and graduated from New Oxford High School in 1945. After graduation, Barton served our country from 1946-1954, serving first in the U.S. Army Air Corps and continued in the U.S. Air Force. During this time, he was stationed in the Tokyo, Japan area where he enjoyed the culture and people. After leaving the military, Barton was again a public servant working at the Internal Revenue Service for 29 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Reisterstown United Methodist Church. He was a sharp dresser and enjoyed traveling. In addition to his mother and father, Barton was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Sieg of New Oxford, PA and Nadine Quickel of Carlisle, PA, and his brothers, Rush K. Sieg, Jr of New Oxford, PA, Donald Sieg of New Oxford, PA and Boyd Sieg of Aspers, PA. Barton is survived by his life partner of 51 years, Frank Shaffer of Manchester, MD, his brother, Wallace Sieg of Palm Desert, CA, a number of nieces and nephews, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 1 PM at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, PA. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren Home Foundation, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
