Bennard "Ben" Wilson Slaybaugh, 90, husband of Joan Marie (Stonesifer) Slaybaugh of Hanover, PA went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016. He was born November 20, 1925 in Adams County, Hamilton Township, PA, son of the late George E. and Laura M. (Fleming) Slaybaugh. Ben was a bricklayer for many years. He retired from Carroll County Public Schools custodial department. Ben served in the U.S. Navy on board the U.S.S. Southerland and U.S.S. Higbee. He was a member of the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren in Westminster, MD. Ben is survived by a daughter, Carol Jean Anders of Hanover, PA, a son, Brian and wife Carolyn of Ortanna, PA, also five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul Slaybaugh of New Hampshire and Ray Slaybaugh and wife Doris of Littlestown, PA. Ben was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Slaybaugh and one sister, Virginia Sigler and three brothers, William Slaybaugh, George Slaybaugh and Harold Slaybaugh and a son-in-law, Charles Anders. A service to celebrate and remember Ben's life will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, MD, with his Pastor, Rev. Tom Richard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors. A viewing will be from 11 AM to 1 PM, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren Deacon Fund, 818 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, Maryland 21158. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
