Bertha Farrington Thomson, 90, of Westminster, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at home.

Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Springhouse, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Williams Farrington. She was the wife of the late William James Thomson.

She was a salutatorian of her class of 1940 at Ambler High School, then went on to graduate from Beaver College, now Arcadia University, in Jenkintown, Pa., in 1944. She later completed graduate studies in library science at the University of Maryland. She was a second-grade teacher in Ambler, Pa., schools for many years prior to moving to Maryland as a children's librarian in Owings Mills. She enjoyed spending time with her pet, Tasha.

Surviving are daughters Chardell T. Ralston, of Hurdle Mills, N.C., Mary Louise "Louie" and husband Kenneth Mays, of Westminster, and Carol A. and husband Malcolm Campbell, of Reisterstown; and grandsons Kyle, Cameron and Mackenzie Campbell, all of Reisterstown.

Funeral services and interment were private at White Marsh Memorial Park in Ambler.
