Bessie Viola (Redding) Barber, 89, of Westminster, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at her residence. Born August 25, 1925, in Sugar Valley, she was the daughter of the late Emma (Baily) Redding and Charles D. Redding. She was the wife of the late O. Monroe Barber, who died July 4, 1982. She was raised by Lydia Bergen and family after her mother passed away when she was 3 weeks old. She was a farm wife. She was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren since 1943 and was a graduate of Westminster High School. She enjoyed making prayer shawls for the hospital and Shepherd's Staff and was a great baker, specializing in making cr¿me puffs. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Rosalee and Kenneth Frizzell, grandsons Warren Frizzell and friend Amy Garrison, Curtis Frizzell and wife Jackie, great-grandson Jackson Kendall, all of Westminster and a great-grandson, Cole Monroe due June 5, 2015. She was predeceased by a nephew whom she raised, Francis Lowe. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd., Westminster, MD 21158.
