Bessie Smith, 74, of Cockeysville, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Sept. 29, 1938, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Henrietta I. Nelson Warfield. She was the wife of the late Clarence Henry Smith.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching the Ravens, soap operas, shopping, cooking, and being with her family and grandchildren. She was known for keeping a clean home.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Nathaniel and Yolanda Smith, of Boston, Mass.; daughters Sheila Smith, of Cockeysville, Sheena Smith, of Baltimore, and Doreen Smith, of Boston; sisters Edith Howard, Mary Alexander, Mildred Stanball and husband Lester, Maybell Johnson, and Patsy Smith and husband William; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by eight siblings.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ernest Warfield officiating. Interment will be in St. James (Strawbridge) Cemetery.
