Bettie Elaine Haines, 87, of Taneytown, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born Oct. 29, 1928 in Reese, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mary Bell Young Taylor and Chester Arthur Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, C. Edward Haines. Before retiring she worked 27 years for Safeway as an assistant manager. She was a charter member of the Reese and Community Volunteer Ladies Auxiliary where she was in the marching unit. She enjoying playing cards and dancing. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Freddie Graham of New Windsor, Christine and Buck Mehring of Woodsboro, son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Margaret Haines of Taneytown, sisters Nancy Yingling of Reese, MD, Faye Miller of New Windsor and a brother Thomas Taylor. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, C. Edward Haines, Jr., brothers Reno, Donald and Joseph Taylor and a sister Angela Garland. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel in Finksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reese and Community Volunteer Fire Company, 1745 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, MD 21157.
