Betty Ann Phebus Smith, 77, of Taneytown, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at her granddaughter's home.

Born Sept. 8, 1936, in Howard County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Phebus and Annie Warfield Smith. She was the wife of the late Reaney S. Smith.

She was a seamstress at Mount Airy Pants Factory, worked on the family farm, helped numerous years at both the Libertytown and Mount Airy volunteer fire departments especially their carnivals. She enjoyed watching soap operas such as "Day of Our Lives," wrestling and "Wheel of Fortune."

Surviving are daughters and Kathy Ann and husband Tony Doreni, of Taneytown, and Cynthia Mae Smith and companion Ken Bourdon, of Romney W.Va.; son and daughter-in-law Craig and Vicky Smith, of New Windsor; grandchildren Crystal and Tyrone Cole, Jessica and Dan Connell, Ricky Kisner, Keith Smith and Travis Smith, and Davy Meleo; great-grandchildren Kriston, Amir, Tytiana, Jai-lah, Jordan, Natalie, Landon, Ava and Colten; and a brother-in-law, David Meleo.

She was predeceased by sisters Erma Jane Duvall and Lottie Mae Parsley; a brother, Charles Phebus; and a grandson, Davy Melo.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Poplar Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784 to help defray funeral costs.
