Betty Griffith, 93, passed away at home on August 31, 2016, surrounded by family. Betty was born on November 11, 1922 in Baltimore, MD. She was a proud graduate of Mount de Sales Academy. After high school she worked at the May Co. - Coffee Tree Co. and then at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. She married Arthur "Barney" Griffith on January 12, 1942. They were together until his death in 1993. She was a member of the Little Sisters of the Poor, The Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Joseph's Church. Betty was incredibly generous and warm. She had enormous desire to please and comfort everyone around her. Betty loved reading the paper, watching the news, and spending time with her family. She was proud to be an American and proud to be a well-informed voter. She never missed an election. Betty is survived by her son Jeff Griffith and his wife Diane; her son Tim Griffith and his wife Pam; her daughter Linda Cruser and her husband Tom; her son Gary Griffith and his wife Judy; and her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial celebration in Betty's honor is scheduled for 10 a.m. September 24, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Eldersburg, MD. To recognize Betty's generous spirit and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Carroll County Food Sunday, PO Box 2160, Westminster, MD 21157.
