Betty Jane Luebberman, 92, of Westminster passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center. Born December 17, 1922, in Norwood, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Wilford Edgar Metzger, Sr. and Mary (Murphy) Metzger. She was the wife of the late William Elmer Luebberman, whom she married February 1, 1945 and who died in 2013. She was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She retired from Carroll County Schools and was an Art teacher at the Carroll County Center for Exceptional Children, now known as Carroll Springs. She was also a professional artist. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Arra Chapter, Norwood, OH, the Delta Phi Delta National Art Honorary Society and The Church of The Ascension, Westminster. She enjoyed traveling, painting, sculpture, ceramics and reading. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Shelley A. and John Steinle of Westminster and daughter-in-law Elizabeth "Libby" Luebberman of Sykesville; grandson Derek S. Steinle of New York City, NY; sister Kathleen M. Shafer of Ohio; brother Wilford E. Metzger, Jr. of Arizona; 1 niece and 4 nephews. She was predeceased by her son William F. Luebberman on November 18, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00am at The Church of The Ascension Episcopal Church, 23 N. Court St., Westminster with the Rev. Samuel Nsengiyumva and Rev. Barbara Sears officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The Church of the Ascension, 23 N. Court St., Westminster, MD 21157.
