Betty L. Gusler, 81, of Reisterstown, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown.

Born Jan. 8, 1932, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Walter Garber and Hilda Whitcomb Garber Hiers. She was the wife of the late George R. Gusler.

She was a homemaker who was active in her community, volunteering for 40 years for the Owings Mills Department of Parks and Recreation, concentrating on the Department of Aging. She was chairwoman of the Owings Mills Recreation Council Ballet Program, and president of the Owings Mills Golden Age Club.

Surviving are children Linda Pescatore, of Florida, Sandra Stocksdale, of Reisterstown, Donna Alder, of Westminster, and Rhonda Buchman, of Hanover, Pa.; siblings Hilda Sullivan, of Idaho, Robert Garber, of Ellicott City, Stanley Garber, of Florida, Elizabeth Heinbauch, of Linthicum, John Whitcomb, of Eldersburg, and Eleanor Beck, of Maine; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Garber.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Private cremation will be held at All Faiths Crematory & Chapel in Manchester.
