Betty Hamilton O'Neal on Saturday, April 9, 2016, longtime resident of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved wife of the late James D. O'Neal; loving mother of Cindy (and Andy) Keefer; sister of Marilyn (and George) Brooks; grandmother of Kristofer Keefer, Andrea (and Stephen) Peeks, Patrick, Kasey and Ave Keefer; great grandmother of Simon and Benjamin Peeks; aunt of Bruce, Keith, Kurt and Kevin Brooks and their families. Mrs. O'Neal was a life-long resident of Montgomery County and a graduate of Blair High School in Silver Spring. She and her husband liked dancing, travelling in many countries and enjoyed being with family. She was a long-time member of Epworth UMC and was involved in numerous volunteer activities including assisting in the Thrift Shop, newsletter production, money counter and serving as a greeter. Mrs. O'Neal was a Life Time Member of the Montgomery County Fair where she volunteered in the Home Economics Building. Her crocheting and needlepoint have won several blue ribbons. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed bowling, volunteered at Gaithersburg HELP, served as an Elections Judge and walked two miles almost every day. Mrs. O'Neal was a backyard bird watcher and even enjoyed the antics of the squirrels looking for an easy meal. The family will receive friends at Epworth United Methodist Church, 9008 Rosemont Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877 on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 10 AM - 12 PM, where a service will follow at 12 PM. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church at the above address.
