Betty Virginia Shipley, 84, of Manchester, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hatfield and Anna Staultz Hatfield. She was the wife of Robert Charles Shipley, who died Oct. 31, 1998.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester and was active with the Salvation Army. She had worked as a loan officer for the former Carroll County Bank and Trust Company.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Messick; a stepdaughter, Barbara Guthrie; siblings Elizabeth Rippeon, Doris F. Brown, Darlene Blickenstaff, Carlos Hatfield and Wayne Hatfield; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Austin Edward Albrecht; a stepson, Robert L. Shipley; and a grandson, Allen LaBrush.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3184 Church St., Manchester, with her pastors, the Revs. Matthew S. and Norma L. Schenning, officiating. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
