Mr. Bobby Allen "Pop" Spielman, 77, of Union Bridge, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born July 29, 1937 in Adams County, PA, he was the son of the late Charles McKinley Spielman and Flora Mae Otto Spielman. He was the husband of Darlene Talbert Spielman, his wife of 54 years. Mr. Spielman served in the U.S. Army from 1960 - 1962. He was formerly employed with Black & Decker of Hampstead prior to his retirement. He enjoyed bowling with several teams and his family, camping, yardwork, butchering and was an avid Orioles fan. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball. In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 children, Kim Spielman of Union Bridge; Dennis Spielman and wife Connie of Keysville; Diane Spielman and companion Jim Starner of Hagerstown and Bobbi Jo Mitten and companion Danny Zile of Harpers Ferry, WV; 4 grandchildren, Richard Allen Spielman, Jefferson Donald Mitten, Mitchel Allen Spielman and Andrea Nichole Mitten; 3 great grandchildren, Landon, Carter and Tagan and a fourth great grandchild due in March; sister, Betty Beard of Walkersville and a brother, Maurice "Hot Dog" Spielman of Taneytown and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 sisters and brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with Rev. Virgil Cain, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, officiating. Interment will be in Haugh's Cemetery, Ladiesburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 28.
