Bruce Douglas "Buddy" Carter, 63, of Union Bridge, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his home. Born March 12, 1952 in Little Rock, AR, he was the son of Hazel Ernestene Page Carter of Union Bridge and the late Dewey G. Carter Jr. He was the loving and devoted husband of Judy A. Clabaugh Carter, his wife of 35 years. Mr. Carter was a member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren, New Windsor, and the Baltimore Bricklayers Union. He was known for his infectious smile and always had a twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed spending time with his family and teaching his children many hands-on life skills. Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are five children, Christopher, Melissa, Douglas, Elizabeth and Beverly; 14 grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Shirley Clabaugh. He was predeceased by a brother, Rodney Lynn Carter. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Monday, December 14 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Leatherman Jr., his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 5272 River Road, Suite 700, Bethesda, MD 20816.
