Burnell H. "Burnie" Broadwater, age 62, of Union Bridge, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Carroll Hospital Center after a brief illness. Born November 30, 1953 in Frederick, he was the son of the late H. Burnell "Tootie" and Betty L. Gray Broadwater. He was the husband of Sandy Broadwater, his wife of 36 years this September. Burnie was employed with McGregor Printing Corp. from 1977 until its closing in 2002. He then worked for Universal Forest Products, retiring June 22, 2016. He was a NASCAR fan of Jimmie Johnson, an avid Baltimore Ravens fan, was easy going, laid back and known as a major jokester. In addition to his wife he is survived by mother-in-law, Betty J. Boone of Union Bridge; sister, Bonnie Clapsaddle of Union Bridge; Patricia Gray, his Aunt of Union Bridge; close and special niece and nephew, Marsha Boone and friend Michael Rodgers of Owings Mills and Carl Strine and wife Tammy of Union Bridge; god-daughter, Misti Myers Trescone of Westminster; numerous other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Robert Strine and wife Pat of McSherrystown, PA; James Strine and wife Debbie of Taneytown; Henry Boone and wife Patti and Charles "Billy" Boone and wife Carolyn, all of Union Bridge. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Steve Clapsaddle, nephew, Kelly Clapsaddle, and father-in-law, Henry C. Boone Sr. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the William H. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center, 291 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Carroll Hospital Foundation, 200 Memorial Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
