Burnell D. Trone, 88, of Manchester, MD, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday. February 11, 2016 at the Longview Nursing Home, Manchester, MD. Born April 24, 1927, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Melvin and Gertrude (Stump) Trone. Burnell was the loving husband of Dorothy L. (Sholl) Trone with whom he shared over sixty-six years of marriage. Mr. Trone was a veteran of The United States Army, having served his country proudly in the during World War II. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Burnell retired with over twenty years of service from the Hanover Public School District where he worked as a Custodian. Mr. Trone was a member of Bixler's United Methodist Church, Westminster, Maryland. Burnell enjoyed refinishing furniture, drawing Disney pictures and was a lifelong fan and follower of Hanover Area high school sports. In addition to his loving wife, Dorothy, Burnell is survived by his children, Karen J. Haifley of Westminster, MD and Burnell Trone, Jr. of Manchester, MD; sisters-in-law, Bernice Trone of Hanover, PA and Edna Trone of York, PA; a brother-in-law, Guy Sholl of Owings Mills, MD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Ralph, Richard, Melvin and John Trone; and sisters, Mary Markle, Ruth Bollinger, Hilda Noble Landis and Delores Boyer. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Burnell will be held 1:30 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Arthur Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Burial Detail providing Military Honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 12:30 - 1:30 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Burnell's memory to Bixler's United Methodist Church, 3282 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Maryland 21102. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
