Byron Dorsey Ridgely, Jr., age 86 of Westminster, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born June 11, 1931 in Baltimore Maryland, he was the son of the late Byron Dorsey Ridgely, Sr. and Claudine Arrington Ridgely. For 65 years he was the husband of the late Betty Jean Ridgely who passed away on October 6, 2017. Dorsey was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who always made time for family. An Air Force Technical Sargent maintaining equipment, he was a member of the rifle team and bus rodeo champion. He farmed the family farm in Howard County, and retired from Madison and Bradford Savings and Loan as a Compliance Manager and member of the board of directors. He was a graduate of Lisbon High School and attended the University of Maryland agricultural extension. His survivors include sisters Helen Meholivich, Charlotte Running and Carol Raber, sons and daughters-in-law William and Terry Lynn Ridgely, Robert Ridgely, and James and Laurel Ridgely, grandchildren Ryan, Matthew, Joshua, David, Luke and Jaidyn Ridgely, step granddaughter Leah Lawless, and 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Fellowship Church, 20 Bell Rd., Westminster, on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 11:30 until 12:30. There will be a reception for the family to receive visitors after the service. Interment will be private in Mt. View Cemetery, Marriottsville.
