Carl David Bare, 68, of Hanover, PA, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 of an apparent heart attack. Born at McKinstry's Mill near New Windsor on May 26, 1946, he was the son of the late David Samuel Bare and Louise Allie Wagner Bare. He was the grandson of the late Samuel David and Hattie Young Bare and Charles Washington and Maggie Crabbs Wagner. Raised in Carroll County, he was a 1965 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1966 to 1969, taking his basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois and between overseas tours was stationed at Providence, Rhode Island and Norfolk, Virginia, aboard the destroyer U.S.S. O'Hare. Carl was very patriotic, loved his country, and was proud to have served. He was employed by the Carroll County Board of Education, Maintenance Dept., for 26 years and prior to that worked for many years for Snyder Body as an expert welder. He was a Christian, a Conservative, and a member of the National Rifle Association and the North Carroll Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family reunions and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by daughter Jennifer L. Brown of Hanover, PA, one granddaughter, Danielle Brown; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley L. and Howard (Sonny) Price of Groveland, FL, Virginia Faye Frock of Littlestown, PA, Jean B. and Conrad W. (Lee) LeGore, Barbara A. and Robert E. Bankard, and J. Rebecca Bare , all of Westminster, brothers and sisters-in-law Allen L. and Barbara A. Bare of Westminster, and Jeffery N. and Kathy Y. Bare of Keymar; nieces and nephews Kimberly Frock Stem and husband, Greg, Gregory S. Price and wife, Jill, Heather A. Bankard and partner, Steve Snyder, Julie LeGore Keller and husband, Jason, Kenneth T. Frock, Jr. and Cody Y. Bare; great-nieces and nephew Samantha Frock, David Frock, Allie Keller and Kendra Luckabaugh, and numerous cousins in the Bare and Wagner families. He is also survived by close family friend Glenn S. Bair In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Kenneth T. Frock, Sr., childhood friend Terry Boose, and close friend and former shipmate John U. Warner, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffry Dull, pastor of Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Carroll Rod and Gun Club, c/o Bill Libman, P. O.
