Carla Jeannette Bopst, 68, of Eldersburg passed away at the Carroll Hospice (Dove House) on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born January 27, 1949 and was the daughter of James Howard of Baltimore, MD and the late Shirley Throop Howard of Indian Head, MD. She was the wife of Louis Lee Bopst Jr. Surviving in addition to her father and husband are daughter and son-in-law Loren and Bryan Callan of Middletown, MD; son and daughter-in-law Louis Lee and Melony Bopst of Hampstead, MD; brothers: Michael Howard, James Howard, Craig Howard, and sister Roberta McLain. Carla is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren; Connor Bopst, Parker Bopst, Riley Stone, Katie Stone, Courtney Callan, Kendall Callan, and Bryan Callan. In addition Carla was a mother figure to Kevin McMurtry, a family friend who spent much time in the Bopst home surrounded by Carla's nurturing love. Carla worked as a Realtor for many years before joining her husband Lee in setting up and running a family based business. She served as President and CFO, handling all aspects of the business for over 25 years. Those who knew her best know she was the epitome of a lady. She loved wearing beautiful dresses, entertaining, and spending time with her family and friends. Carla was truly loved by all who had the great fortune of meeting her. Her absence will leave a hole in the hearts of so many family and friends alike. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Haight Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carroll Hospice. Please make your checks payable to Carroll Hospice and mail them to Dove House, 292 Stoner Road, Westminister, MD. Please remember to include a note stating that your gift is in memory of Carla Bopst
