Carlton Wesley Ridgley, age 91, of Mount Airy, Md. died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Lorien Assisted Living. He was the husband of Betty M. Browning Ridgley. Born August 12, 1924 in Gaithersburg, MD. He was the son of the late Harry R. and Pearl E. Boyer Ridgley. Carlton attended Fredrick High School. He was farming at home when at age 19 a farm accident disabled him. He was later employed as a truck driver for O' Boyle Tank Lines for a number of years. Upon retirement he drove a school bus for Howard County for 7 years. He was a member of Grace Trinity UCC Church for over 70 years, the Mt. Airy Senior Center and the 55 Plus Club. He enjoyed traveling, senior club trips, TV, and his coffee club buddies. Carlton was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family and the reunions with all on holidays. His wry wit and sense of humor were enjoyed by family and friends. He will be missed by all. Surviving in addition to his present wife Betty, are son Donald C. Ridgley and wife Susan of Alabama, two grandchildren Kenneth Ridgley and wife Rose of Arizona; and Diane Vitas and husband Jason of Ohio; 5 great grandchildren; two sisters Evelyn Reynolds of Crestwood Village, Fredrick; and Nelva Mount of New Market, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by former wife Mildred Myers Ridgley; brothers William Earl Ridgley and wife Francis; Albert Ridgley and wife Louise; son Dennis Ridgley; brothers- in- law Richard Reynolds, and Windsor Mount. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday January 17 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 18 at the funeral home. Rev Dr. Elsabeth Hilke will be officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The family wish to thank the staff, all nurses, and aids at Lorien Mount Airy for their kindness and loving care to Carlton the six years of his residing there. This includes rehab staff and family members too.
