Carlyn C. Obrecht Harrison, 99, of Sykesville, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born July 30, 1914, in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Clausina M. Obrecht. She was the wife of the late Milroy W. Harrison, her husband of 49 years.

She was a 1932 graduate of Sykesville High School and a 1933 graduate of the licensed practical nursing class at Spingfield Hospital Center. She worked at Springfield Hospital Center for 14 years and at Rosewood Center for 14 years. She was a licensed day care mother to many children until the age of 70.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed vegetable gardening, flower gardening, birds, poetry, corresponding with family and friends and puzzles.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law William C. and Pat Harrison, of Sykesville, and Carroll L. and Ina Harrison, of Glen Rock, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Edna M. Harrison, of Sykesville; a former daughter-in-law, Edna Wampler Harrison, of Sykesville; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, George F. Harrison Sr., on Oct. 8; and siblings Anna C. Obrecht, Alma Louise Schwartz, Carl F. Obrecht, Philip C. Obrecht and George S. Obrecht.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springfield Cemetery in Sykesville.
