Carolyn Gertrude "Mom" Smith, 95, of Pleasant Valley, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Lorien of Taneytown.

Born Oct. 25, 1917, in Pleasant Valley, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Ethel Myers Black. She was the wife of Scott Lambert Smith, who died 2007.

She had previously worked and retired from Carroll Manufacturing where she was a presser.

She was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, participating in the Willing Workers Class. She was last surviving charter member of the Pleasant Valley and Community Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Door to Virtue Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and camping.

Surviving are sons and daughter-in-laws Richard and Carolyn Smith, and Robert and Gail Smith, all of Westminster; a brother, Charles Black, of Westminster; a granddaughter, Kara Garrison; grandsons Scott, Matthew, Michael and Jason Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Hanberry officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Matthew's UCC, 1427 Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158; the Auxiliary to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 2030 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158; or to the Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
