Carolyn L. Smith, 69, of Westminster, died suddenly Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in Anchorage, Alaska while vacationing with her husband. Born May 10, 1969 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Melvin R. and Nettie Lee Simms Keith Sr. of Westminster. She was the loving wife of David G. Smith of 8 years whom she married August 26, 2006. She was a graduate of Westminster High School class of 63, and a graduate of Notre Dame College. She retired from the Carroll County Government as a secretary, where she was employed for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading mystery novels, flower gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carolyn enjoyed recent trips with her husband. They loved going to Alaska, seeing natural wonders in the Mid-West, panning for gold and enjoying each others company. She was incredibly supportive of her grandchildren, cheering them on at games and 4-H competitions. Charity was very important to her and she regularly supported various causes. Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are daughters and son-in-laws Michelle (Myers) and David Parrish of Westminster, Tracie (Myers) and Mark Blacksten, of Westminster. Grandchildren Nick and Jared Parrish; Sean and Sydney Blacksten all of Westminster. Sister and brother in law Sharon R. and Mickey Post, nephew Michael Post all of Alexandria, VA; brother and sister-in-law Melvin R. "JR" and Linda Keith, nieces Shayna Keith and Carey Goonan all of Westminster. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am with Rev. Sam Chamelin as officiant. Interment will be at Meadow Branch Cemetery.
